A great many types of rear axle assemblies are available in the
Ford truck line. The type can be identified from the plate on 1961
through 1967 models using this chart. Rear
axle identification can also be made from the axle housing on 1957
through 1967 models. Typical locations are shown below.
When using the rear axle identification chart, the truck model
and year should be verified first, as the manufacturer's axle model
and carrier identification numbers may be the same for two or more
axles.
