My mom was
responsible for getting me started with my love of cars. She
had many interesting, exotic, fast, and fun cars. This
Cadillac Fleetwood was one of the high points. She also
loved the Lincolns, drove big-block Ford and Mercury wagons,
bought one of the first Ford F-100 Rangers, had a retro
T-Bird, cruised in a then-new "loaded" '60 Falcon wagon, and yes I even remember a blue and white Turnpike
Cruiser. One of my earliest memories is riding with her in
our Country Sedan as she taught me the names of all the
different cars. She saw to it that my first car in 1966 was
a black 1959 Ford Thunderbird.
